Trapster for HTC EVO helps you dodge the 5-0
Now I know all our readers are law-abiding citizens that follow the law and would never break any rules. But if you were having urges of becoming a speed demon, Trapster for HTC EVO will help you dodge johnny law.
As you approach a police speed trap, red light camera, or an accident, Trapster will alert you of one of over 4.5 million traps reported. Other hazards can be reported as well, such as common "children at play" areas, school zones, construction zones, dangerous intersections and curves, flooded or icy roads, and even a potential roadkill stew. Another option available is to display EV charging stations for those soon be Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt owners.
Included with the app is a widget that you can place on your home screen to help you confirm or deny any reported alert areas and in turn, help the Trapster community as a whole. As users report traps, the system learns whether they're credibile over time based on how many people agree that the trap reported was correct and accurate.
Another great feature is Trapster's Virtual Radar, which will dynamically narrow in alert areas and then elongate the map display based on your speed and direction of travel calculated via GPS.
Remember that this app will continually use your phone's GPS, which will significantly reduce battery life as reported by the developers.
