Viewsonic 7x 7-inch tablet makes its sonic boom in Japan in mid-August

Camangi-01-550x412

What you see above is not the Viewsonic 7x. It's the Camangi Mangrove 7, but don't be sad: it's the exact same device. Camangi deals with Japanese Viewsonic releases, so the device in the picture is actually what you'll see from Viewsonic, as well.

It runs Android Honeycomb 3.1 and boasts some pretty awesome specs, too. Its 7-inch display has a resolution of 1024 x 600, and those pixels are protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass. Driving the display is the incredible NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, which is coupled with a whopping 1GB of RAM. A 5MP back camera and a 2MP front camera round out the camera system, and you can store the photos you've taken on 8GB of flash storage.

It's also nicely connected, with 802.11b/g/n wireless networking, microUSB 2.0, a mini HDMI port, GPS and A-GPS, and a microSD slot.

The mid-August timeframe is, unfortunately, for Japan. You can import it; however, if you'd like to save a little bit of money on importing costs, you can nab one for a price somewhere in the $449-$450 range when it comes to the US a little later this year.
