Sharp RW-T107 Android tablet packs Gingerbread, NFC
Hmm, this is interesting. It seems as though Sharp is ready to release another 7-inch tablet, but unlike the Galapagos tablet the FCC handled on the first of July, the RW-T107 is running a special variant of Android specifically tailored for 7-inch tablets.
Unfortunately, this device will only be released in Japan as far as we know, but if you like what you see above, you can probably import it. And why would you want to import it? Well, other than the incredible size, this is the first NFC-equipped tablet in the world, which means, if released elsewhere, this could destroy what market share the iPad has in retail settings across the globe. I'm thinking specifically the swiping of credit cards enabled with NFC chips, or IDs with NFC chips inside, as well. Or, you could simply take the tablet into your local Starbucks (yum!) and pay for your latte with it instead.
On top of that, the RW-T107 also features a headphone jack, two speakers, SIM card slot, HDMI, and a microUSB port. I know that I would be buying one if it hit the States, but I don't think it's worth importing. How about you?
