XOOM finally getting 4G LTE upgrade

XOOM - for some reason we don't have an alt tag here

It looks like the fiasco with the Motorola XOOM should finally start to calm down. A tablet sold on IOU’s s finally starting to become complete. Droid Life is reporting that business and government owners will be notified in the coming weeks that they are eligible for the LTE upgrade. This first group is the initial “pilot” group that will receive the update, with the rest of the XOOM owners receiving updates when all goes well.

As we have covered before, the upgrade process from Motorola is a complete mess. Motorola will email you confirmation of the update, and instructions on how the upgrade process works. Then, you will be mailed a pre-paid FedEx box for shipment. Your data will need to be backed up before the XOOM is sent in for the 4G upgrade as they will be wiping the device.. You will then be without the $600+ tablet you purchased earlier this year for approximately 5-7 days. Business and government users will receive a 3 day turnaround though, so hopefully Moto does the same for the rest of their customers. It’s nice to see the XOOM finally coming to completion.
