Get $50 worth of paid apps for free on your HTC EVO

Amazon's Appstore is pretty sweet, offering a different paid app for free every day. But why stop at only one free app a day, when you can get over $50 worth of paid apps for free on your HTC EVO right now?

Third-party app marketplace GetJar is currently offering 28 paid apps for free, including the popular SwiftKey X keyboard (regularly $4.06), TuneIn Radio Pro ($0.99), TekTrack Mobile Security ($4.99), AllSport GPS Pro ($3.99), and App Protector Pro ($1.99).

Popular games that you can snag for free right now include Paper Glider (regularly $0.99), Farm Frenzy (formerly $3.26), and Hockey Nations 2010 ($4.99), among others.

You will have to enable the installation of non-Market apps (Menu > Settings > Applications > Unknown sources), as well as install the GetJar app store on your HTC EVO. To install GetJar, just click the link below on your device, select an application to download, and follow the on-screen instructions to install the app store.

Of course, once you are finished installing the apps you want, you can uninstall GetJar if you wish. Just make sure to keep backups of any free apps you download, in case you ever need to reinstall them!

  • How do you save the apps once you download it?

  • Avatar of KaliforniaKid

Yeah, back up what? apk files? where?

  • The apk files should be saved to your “downloads” folder (or something similar) when you download them. So if you want to back them up, just make sure to save those files.

    Thanks John,

The apk’s are in the the “asec” folder within the phone directory rather than the “download” folder within the sdcard directory.

I’ll delete apk file after installing the game (and backing up the apk) to free up space on the phone. Just more junk in the phone’s trunk.

Can someone explain how to get and save these apk files?

  • go to root using Es File Explorer then go to data/app then find the apks your looking for and copy to desired folder in sdcard

If you don’t have root, you can download apkshare from the Android Market. You can backup to your SD card, or email them to yourself, so they can be stored on your PC for future use.

I just downloaded the apps I wanted from Getjar. I had to switch Dolphin HD to Android from Desktop to get the to work. Be sure to backup those APKs before flashing your next ROM.

Oh no, I already have the amazon market place running in the background all the time. The last thing I need is another one. I am almost out of space on my 4G anyway. But thanks for the info though.
