How to remove lockscreen app shortcuts on the HTC EVO 3D

I can’t stand the shortcuts on the Sense 3.0 lockscreen on the HTC EVO 3D. They are too close to the ring, and I can’t think of any app that I would ever need that quickly when I could just put a shortcut to it on my homescreen.

I was looking for a way to remove them and, of course, there’s no option. So here’s an easy workaround.

  1. Install an app that you don’t care about: anything that is a regular app (no widgets) and shows up in the app drawer.
  2. Now go to Personalize > Lockscreen > Wallpaper Lockscreen > Settings.
  3. Set all four of the rings to launch the app that you don’t care about. Hit OK.
  4. Once your lockscreen is all set to have four shortcuts to the worthless app, simply uninstall that app! Once it’s gone, your Sense 3.0 lockscreen is all empty; there is just a clock and a ring to pull on.

One quick note, though: If you use a custom launcher (such as GoLauncher, LauncherPro, ADW, etc.), you will have to switch back to HTC Sense first, follow the above four steps, and then return to your launcher of choice.
