HTC Flyer getting a price drop in the US

flyer - for some reason we don't have an alt tag here

Best Buy in the US will start selling the HTC Flyer for $300 starting October 1st. That’s a nice  $200 off the launch price, and frankly a lot more realistic of a price for that thing. The Flyer is getting rather outdated now that 7-inch Honeycomb tablets are popping up with dual core processors and 800 x 1280 screens, as it only has a 1.5Ghz single core CPU, Android 2.3 and a 600 x 1024 screen itself. It does have a pen digitizer though, but how useful that is I won’t comment on. Now that the Kindle Fire will lower the pricing standards even more it might still not be enough, especially not when Samsung starts releasing their powerhouse tablets around the same price point.

I would like to see the same sort of price drop in Europe as well, as HTC has some loyal fans over here. The Flyer started out being a lot more expensive than the iPad here, and that’s definitely not the way to sell a tablet.
