Ice Cream Sandwich finally shown off

Ice_cream_sandwich

Wow! Look what we have here! We already knew that Ice Cream Sandwich was on its way to being released this October or November, but I don't think anyone could've guessed it would be this early. Today, a video and some screenshots were posted on Engadget showing off the next iteration of Google's mobile OS.

It's running on a Nexus S, which isn't a surprise, but it gives plenty of insight into how the merger of Honeycomb and Gingerbread will take place. There are quite a few similarities from Honeycomb here, including the email icons and that light, electric blue theme; it's just in a Gingerbread package.

Hopefully, you'll be able to throw this on whatever Android device you've got in a few weeks. In the meantime, are you guys excited about Ice Cream Sandwich on smartphones? I guess I'm going to be a little more partial towards the cold treat on tablets, but that's just me.
