Qualcomm gives information on 2.5GHz quad-core chips

Snapdragon_lineup_2012

NVIDIA isn't the only company to be releasing quad-core mobile processors. Qualcomm, a company that you're probably very familiar with, has today outlined its next iteration of mobile processors. If you're not familiar with them, then you're probably at the wrong website, as Qualcomm processors power many of the devices that you guys are using.

But up until now, the company's only been able to reach speeds at around 1.2GHz with processors of the dual-core variety. But it wants to get even faster, starting with quad-core chips; those will be reaching speeds of 2.5GHz.

So not only will the devices that utilize these new quad-core chips be incredibly speedy on the number-crunching front, they will also be very capable of playing games and pushing media, thanks to Adreno graphics.

You won't be seeing these processors in any devices this year, but it's a good possibility that they'll make their way into your hands by early 2012.
