Toshiba announces 7-inch Thrive Honeycomb tablet

Toshiba_thrive_7-inch So, as you all know, we love 7-inch tablets.

This week is a very exciting one for all of the staff at Pocketables; Amazon's 7-inch Kindle Fire will be announced tomorrow. But just one pocketable tablet per week is never enough. Toshiba decided that it's now its turn to throw one out into the market, and it's called the Thrive 7-inch Tablet.

It takes a lot of design cues from its bigger sibling, but since it's smaller, there are a few features it's not going to release with, including the full-size USB and HDMI ports. Thankfully, Toshiba has thought to provide you with miniUSB and microHDMI ports, as well as support for microSD cards for expanded storage.

The 7-inch display will have a nice resolution of 1280×800, which should make for a very pleasant viewing experience. It's running Android 3.2 on top of an NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, so things should be relatively snappy in terms of performance.

There will be two models released in December, each with varying storage capacities: 16GB and 32GB. No pricing has been announced, and that December timeframe is just that; no specific dates here.

Either way, I know I'm ready for some more 7-inch Honeycomb tablets. How about you?
