Do you remember all the pain, suffering, and tears that came from Verizon's choice to get rid of unlimited data? I do, and if I'm remembering correctly, it was just after AT&T had done the same. But Verizon hears you on this one, and has decided to kind of, sort of bring it back. (Kinda.)
Instead of having unlimited data for on-contract, monthly plans, Verizon will give you unlimited talk, text, and web for only $50 a month. Sounds great, right? Unlimited data and no contract? Yay!
Unfortunately, there's a huge downside: you have to pick a prepaid phone. Some of them are smartphones and BlackBerries (yeah, BlackBerry has its own category,) but on the front page, there's a Curve, a Samsung Continuum, and a Motorola Droid, plus whatever nameless pieces of prepaid junk that Nokia provides. And since Verizon doesn't use SIM cards, you can't just swap SIMs like you could in the good old days.
Still, if you need unlimited everything, Verizon's $50/month plan will probably suit you well, even if you won't be happy using the phone you get with it.
