Dell Streak 5 gets official Gingerbread ROM [Updated]

Update: Do not use this ROM. While some have reported no issues, others appear to be super-bricking their devices. If you've installed this update and have run into problems, head to our forums for help.

6a00d83451c9ec69e201539046ae94970b-250wiAfter a bit of speculation about the possibility of the discontinued Dell Streak 5 receiving Android Gingerbread, it's finally official: it will be. In fact, it already has, thanks to Olleh KT, a Korean carrier.

The new ROM information has been passed on to Themanii, who, in turn, let us know about it. The new build gives you most of the same features that StreakDroid 2.4 does, so those of you already running that don't have much to gain here.

For everyone else, we have all the details you need to know to get yourself running an official build of Gingerbread from Dell. Just note, however, that the ROM is heavily branded to Olleh KT, so a lot of its apps are going to be installed on your Streak 5 if you choose to go down this route.

It also bears repeating that if you are already running StreakDroid 2.4, it's probably not worth the trouble to upgrade to this official ROM, because they both give you the same features. If you aren't running it, though, you will probably want to try this method out.

  • Flash a region 14 recovery, such as recovery – 350

  • Enjoy

Further instructions and help can be found on the source link below.

Update: Do not use this ROM. While some have reported no issues, others appear to be super-bricking their devices. If you've installed this update and have run into problems, head to our forums for help.
