Steve Jobs passes away at 56
Some rather sudden news for your this early Thursday, as it is now known that Steve Jobs, Apple chairman and former CEO, passed away yesterday (Wednesday, October 5th). He’d been fighting pancreatic cancer for a long time, and have had several pauses in his job as CEO of Apple leading up to him resigning his position just a couple of months ago. In the end, the illness won.
Whether you hate or love Apple and its products, I think that anyone can agree that Steve Jobs will go down in history as one of the great figures of technology. In the years leading up to his death he quite literally revolutionized the mobile computing industry with both the iPhone and the iPad, simply because he understood the importance of making products consumer friendly. I think it’s safe to say that Apple won’t be the same without his guidance, although his legacy will hopefully live on. It’s also important to remember that behind the public figure was a 56 year old man with wife and children.
