Stop being jealous of DROID owners and get ZumoCast for your HTC EVO

Have you seen this commercial lately? The first thing I said to myself: "I want that on my EVO!" After doing some quick research, I was depressed to find out that the app, which turns out to be called ZumoCast, is only available for the Motorola DROID Bionic, DROID 3, and Atrix 2.

Now that I have an EVO family of two (3D and 4G), I was hoping that there would be some way to get this app onto either or both of my phones.

Well, thanks to EVO 3D user str8upx , me and every other EVO user can rejoice.

For those who want to know more about ZumoCast, it lets you access all of your media instantly. As their website states: "Enjoy your entire collection of videos and music on your mobile device and any browser; without the need to upload or sync."

That's right, you access all of your computer's documents, pictures, music, and videos on-the-go. But that's not all. Anytime you are sitting at a computer that isn't yours, you can hop onto your favorite browser and stream all that media from the computer. This is truly a handy app that could easily run for more than $10. Thankfully, we can get it for free. So if you want to start streaming, let's get you setup.

Start by grabbing the .apk (the app). Either head over to str8upx's Forum Thread or grab the .apk from this mirror. Be sure to install it using a file manager app (I recommend ES File Explorer) – you don't need to be rooted, but you need to have Unknown Sources checked in the Applications settings (Settings > Applications > check Unknown Sources). Next, grab the desktop client for Windows or Mac

I would recommend installing the Android app first (this makes account creation much easier). Then stop when the app asks if your computer is ready. Then, install the desktop client. Once everything is going on the computer end, finish the install on the EVO and enjoy all the stream-y goodness. (By the way, the top-right image below is a streaming video)

If you enjoy the app be sure to head over to str8upx's thread to show him some love!
