The last iTunes you’ll ever need is now available to download

itunes105 - for some reason we don't have an alt tag here

More than 10 years since the first version was released, iTunes is taking the first major step towards being extinct. iTunes 10.5 is now available for download, and as far as iOS users go, it’s the last version of iTunes you’ll ever need. You will need it installed for tomorrow’s release of iOS 5, which will bring some much anticipated PC less features to iOS. Over the air updates is one of them, meaning that you’ll no longer need to connect to a computer to update the device. Initial setups without a computer is also a welcome addition, and so is iCloud which is what truly makes it possible to go iTunes-less in the future.

So, the long debate whether iTunes is crap or not is over. After this download and tomorrow’s iOS 5 update, it no longer matters – unless you buy an iPod Nano, Shuffle or Classic of course. I recommend updating iTunes now so that nothing stands in your way tomorrow.
