Unlimited 4G data will soon end for HTC EVO View 4G tablet

Last month when we announced that Sprint was ending unlimited Mobile Hotspot data on HTC EVO devices, we thought that tablet plans were safe for the time being. But now, it looks like that's also coming to an end starting in November. According to Sprint, "If you have a mobile broadband device such as a tablet, netbook, notebook, USB card, connection card or Mobile Hotspot device, effective beginning with your next bill following notification, your on-network monthly data allowance will no longer include unlimited 4G."

This means that 4G data on the EVO View 4G tablet will now be capped and metered along with 3G data, although smartphone data will remain unlimited.

This also looks like there will not be any grandfathering of unlimited plans. So perhaps this could be another excuse to get out of your contract without an ETF if you bought an EVO View on contract and expected to get unlimited 4G.

I'm not going to lie: this is a very disappointing move on Sprint's part. I can only hope that this move was necessary to keep phone data unlimited, but even that prospect is looking less and less likely as time goes on. Let's just hope that this is the last cut we see from Sprint for a long time.
