Adobe putting Flash on Ice Cream Sandwich as last hurrah

It has been just two short weeks since Adobe announced that it would be killing off the mobile version of Flash on all mobile platforms. But even with that announcement, it seems that mobile Flash will be updated one last time to run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The company today announced that ICS will receive a version of Flash before 2011, but it will be the last update from Adobe, which means that future Android versions will not have Flash capabilities.

Here's the direct quote from an Adobe spokesperson:

"Adobe will release one more version of the Flash Player for mobile browsing, which will provide support for Android 4.0, and one more release of the Flash Linux Porting Kit–both expected to be released before the end of this year."

So, for those of you who still love to use Flash on your mobile phones, and plan on upgrading to ICS, this comes as welcome news to you. However, most of the things I do on my phones don't require any Flash capabilities whatsoever, since I love apps and hardly watch any video on the go.
