Good and EVOSoftware Updates

Rogers HTC EVO 3D receives OTA security update to 1.20.631.3

Rogers-evo3dsecurityGood news this morning for our neighbors up north: it looks like HTC and Rogers are finally pushing out that OTA security update to Canadian HTC EVO 3D users. This bumps the Canadian EVO up to version 1.20.631.3 and finally provides an official fix for that nasty security hole we told you about at the beginning of the month.

Unlike the Sprint OTA, this update also includes various performance fixes, including a bug that caused HTC Sense to force close. Some users are complaining of ill-effects after applying the update, including the device randomly rebooting. However, these reports are not substantiated and do not appear widespread at this time.

In any case, it now looks like most, if not all, members of the HTC EVO family have received their official Band-Aid and can trot along on their merry little ways without worrying. Although HTC says no one has been affected by this hole, it probably would have only been a matter of time.
