Amazon Kindle hits the one million sales per week mark [Updated]

Fire

The holiday season is closing in on us at a rapid rate. As such, now is usually the time of year that family members and friends who didn’t get their shopping done start to rush into stores and to the internet to buy gifts for their loved ones. And according to Amazon itself, millions of people will be having a fantastic holiday because they will be getting the a Kindle Fire

The company has announced today that the Kindle Fire is its best-selling product. It’s at the top of the charts, and that’s because three weeks ago, the 7-inch tablet and its brethren hit the one million sales per week mark. That’s a pretty big feat for any product, let alone a tablet and some e-readers. The original iPad took a month to reach one million sales.

I knew that the Kindle Fire was going to be a success eventually due to its low price and attractive ecosystem and brand-name; what I didn’t know was that its success would come so early in its life.

Update: The press release actually says that Amazon is selling one million Kindles per week, and that includes the entire Kindle line. Still, the tablet is the best selling Kindle, so I’m sure it’s making up a pretty hefty chunk of those sales.
