Motorola XOOM 2 lands in the US, renamed Xyboard

- for some reason we don't have an alt tag here

It’s been a month since we first wrote about the XOOM 2 and XOOM 2 Media Edition being released in the US. The tablets are now coming to the US, where it in true US tradition is being tied down to some carrier and renamed beyond reason. The Motorola Xyboard (that’s a play on the word “cyborg”, not the marketing manager’s cat stepping on the keyboard) 10.1 and 8.2 seem to be identical to the UK versions, aside from the inclusion of LTE for mobile broadband. That means dual core 1.2Ghz, 1GB of RAM, dual cameras, 1280 x 800 screens etc.

With the Prime coming up sporting Tegra 3, Motorola is once again releasing tablets just before someone else comes and does it properly. The first generation XOOM was, well, a mess, and they didn’t quite seem to have understood the upgrade aspect of releasing second generation products. At the very least, these tablets will provide those who care more about network speeds than device speeds.
