Nook Tablet is best selling Nook yet, could give the Kindle Fire a run for its money

Nook-tablet-vs-kindle-fire
The Nook Color and Kindle Fire, released around the same time and targeting the same markets, have always been stiff competitors. Both run Android, both were quickly rooted, and both are pretty great 7-inch media consuming tablets. Amazon's Fire appeared to have a sales advantage in both preorders and current sales at Best Buy, but Barnes & Noble fired back unintentionally in their earning statement today.

In the statement, they say that the Nook Tablet is already the best and fastest selling Nook device yet. Although that obviously doesn't take into account any other tablet sales, it is still pretty impressive considering how much we loved that original Nook. Also, it's not as if past Nooks sold badly. According to this same earnings call, B&N made $220 million from the Nook line just in the last quarter.

If sales continue to be this good, we should soon see another awesome community grow behind the Nook Tablet, which will likely extend its features greatly if you are willing to root the device. I was hopeful the same thing would happen with the Kindle Fire, but Amazon is unfortunately attacking those trying to get the most out of their device.

Neither of these tablets is going to dethrone the iPad anytime soon, but seeing competition even in the 7-inch market is awesome, because consumers will win in the end.
