Skytex Skypad Alpha 2 coming next week with small price, specs

Skypad-alpha-2

If there's one thing that we've learned from the holiday season of 2011, it's that people love cheap tablets, no matter what operating system they're running and what company they're from.

Companies are starting to learn it, too, which is probably the biggest reason why Skytex has decided to bring its Skypad Alpha 2 Android tablet to the market just before the holiday season for only $189. But as the saying goes, you get what you pay for, and it's quite apparent here. There's a 1.2GHz single-core processor coupled with 512MB of RAM inside, as well as 4GB of internal storage and WiFi.

And although those specs certainly aren't the worst that we've ever seen, the Skypad turns to the even worse side when we talk about the display. It's a 7-inch panel with a paltry resolution of just 800 x 480.

Still, for $189, the Skypad Alpha 2 should offer plenty of power for most users, provided that they keep their expectations in check.
