Absinthe iPhone 4S jailbreak released

Apple_a5

Although Apple doesn’t condone it, one of the most popular things to do with an iPhone is to jailbreak. It allows the device to be used in any way that the owner wants, unlike how the phone comes in the box. As we all know, Apple is kind of a control-freak of a company.

Unfortunately, the iPhone 4S has an Apple A5 chip, which is essentially a Cortex A9 that has been silk-screened with an Apple logo. To the consumer, a new chip that boasts much better performance is an amazing reason to upgrade; however, every new chip comes with new exploits that need to be found out before it can be jailbroken. That’s the reason iPhone 4S owners haven’t been able to jailbreak their phones.

Today, though, our wait is over. The Chronic Dev Team has been working incredibly hard on bringing an A5 jailbreak to owners of devices with that processor in them, and it’s finally out. To use the Absinthe jailbreak, you must have an iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0 or 5.0.1.

Let us know if you’re going to do this to your iPhone 4S in the comments.
