HTC EVO 4G Ice Cream Sandwich ROMs get camera support

Ice Cream Sandwich 6a00d83451c9ec69e20154388a2304970c-300wi[1]on the HTC EVO 4G now has a working camera, thanks to MongooseHelix of Evervolv ROM, who posted a simple patch that reportedly works on Evervolv, Deck's alpha1, and potentially other ICS builds.

With the camera working, the last major hurdle to a completely working stock ICS ROM for the EVO 4G is now narrowed to WiMAX, which for many is a non-issue since 4G coverage is either non-existent or not useful.

To install the patch on your rooted EVO 4G running an ICS ROM, make a Nandroid backup, download this file, and flash it. It should remove the stock Google camera and replace it with the modified 8MP EVO camera application.

Unfortunately my HTC EVO 4G decided to die an hour before I could test this out (unrelated electric surge) so for the moment I am unable to test anything in the EVO 4G root world. Please let us know if it works for your ICS ROM.
