Good and EVOSoftware Updates

HTC EVO 4G receives OTA update to 4.67.651.3

6a00d83451c9ec69e20167606b706f970b-800wiThose of you still sporting an HTC EVO 4G should be pleased to find out that there’s another OTA software update waiting for you right now. This bumps the software version up to 4.67.651.3 and brings with it the following changes:

  • Security Update
  • Updated Peep client (to align with Twitter)
  • Battery life improvements

In case you’re wondering: yes, this does sound just like the recent OTA update for the EVO 3D that finally removed Carrier IQ. And since Sprint and HTC have already made clear that they intend to remove CIQ from the rest of the EVO family, it is very likely that this update accomplishes just that. (I can’t personally confirm, since my original EVO 4G retired last summer when I got my EVO 3D.)

You can initiate the update yourself by selecting Settings > System updates > HTC software update, or you can wait to receive an official notification that it’s available on or after January 24. If you accept it, be sure to let us know if you notice any other bugs or enhancements.

[Sprint] Thanks, tdinc!
