New RIM roadmap leaked, confirms much faster PlayBook

If you're anything like me, you love confirmation of things to come. It doesn't have to be an official confirmation, but if you get some solid info on something awesome that you've been expecting for quite some time, reading the post about it pretty much turns the dull Tuesday that you're reading it on into a holiday of epic proportions.

Last week, we brought you a post about RIM's PlayBook roadmap for 2012, and it outlined a lot of what is confirmed today. Most notably, the next BlackBerry tablet will have HSPA+, which means it can hook itself up to a theoretical 42Mbps mobile network. Also included in the new PlayBook will be a 1.5GHz CPU, which is 500MHz faster than the current iteration's processor.

Today's leaked roadmap also outlined a few more details about RIM's BlackBerry 10 lineup that we'll see this fall. The BlackBerry London will be the first BB10 release, and like we said last week, it will come in September. But today's leak also confirmed a second BB10 phone, one that will be making its way to the market in December.

I hope that with new, streamlined management in control, RIM will pull itself out of the fairly deep rut it got itself into in 2011.
