Octa WhaleTail gives your tablet a tail

octa whaletail - for some reason we don't have an alt tag here

With the ocean of stands and grip accessories for tablets out there, I guess it makes sense to give one a whale tail. The Octa WhaleTail is a modular system that consists of a cup-like vacuum attachment peace with a hand pump to make it grip any flat surface and an attachment system to attach various accessories – right now a cover piece of a whale tail shaped flexible…tail. The purpose of this contraption is to give you a better grip when you use your iPad or other tablet with a flat back, as well as provide stand functionality.

While the problem that this solves has been solved before, this is certainly a unique solution. The tail shape makes sense as it is the right shape to provide both grip and stand functionality, and more tails will be coming later this year if you prefer another animal. I also quite like the pump solution to getting a good vacuum seal, as a lot of lever-action suction cup mounts are less secure than they should be. The tail itself should provide plenty of extra security when you’re trying to use a tablet one-handed, like in  presentation setting or something like that.

So, if you want to avoid the fail whale, you better buy yourself a WhaleTail. Via snail mail. Pre-orders are accepted now, and it will ccost you $60.
