Polaroid planning 7-inch Spectrum Ice Cream Sandwich tablet for 2012 release
If none of the other 7-inchers in the flood of tablets from CES have caught your eye, maybe this one from Polaroid will. It's called the Spectrum 7, and like the name implies, it's a 7-inch device.
This brochure was being shown off at CES. It lists the Spectrum 7's specifications, like running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor, and a capacitive dispay. It also has between 4GB and 16GB of internal storage, which is expandable thanks to a microSD card slot.
I was unaware that Polaroid was entering the tablet market, but I guess it makes sense as dedicated digital and film photography equipment is on the decline. To be honest, I originally thought that the tablets were going to be marketed towards professional photographers with the cameras. But obviously that isn't the case, since there isn't any mention of anything special with the front- and rear-facing cameras.
Like most of what we've seen this week, there isn't any specific launch date or price points, but Polaroid says these devices will be out by year's end.
