Runtastic can help battle the holiday bulge, keep up with your resolutions

HoVPCT3h9zzNSWC6GTT2VzESI7omj4HUuUTw_XfuqqbUmhcCyH_l3FvGMeRgZ7DbLd0[1]It's a fairly common event on New Year's to make a resolution to get fit. It's also a fairly common happening that the first steps of getting fit are to get the gear, sign up for a gym membership, and then despair as after weeks of effort you're not really sure you're getting anywhere.

An app called Runtastic can help if running, biking, hiking, or other physical activities are in the cards for you in 2012.

Runtastic monitors your workout progress in real time, displaying estimated calories burned, altitude changes, distance traveled, terrain maps, pace, and more. You can set goals, keep up with your progress at their website, and generally see how you're doing based on goals you've set to achieve.

If you're a gym rat, you can manually enter in any workouts, including weights, cardio classes, yoga, and other exercises that would not be trackable via GPS.

There's also a built-in music player, workout diary, mapping, graphs, weekly and monthly reports, and a lot more.

QR for RuntasticWhatever your exercise, Runtastic is a fantastic little reminder of just how far you've come and how close you are to your goal.

The app is free for a fully functioning tracker, or $5 for the pro version, which features voice feedback during workouts, lets you do live tracking, and removes ads.

Happy New Year!
