Boost your Dell Streak 5 signal strength with this mod

Streak_5

If you've been less than impressed with your Dell Streak 5's signal strength, today is your lucky day. A developer over at xda-developers has created a mod for the Streak 5 that helps to improve your signal strength.

It should be noted that this doesn't have anything to do with the antenna itself; instead, this mod chooses the best profile based on numerous factors. And remember to make a backup before you attempt any of this!

With that out of the way, let's get into the mod itself. Provided that you already have a rooted Streak and a file explorer app, all you'll need to do is add the following to /system/build.prop:

  • ro.ril.hsxpa=2
  • ro.ril.gprsclass=12
  • ro.ril.hep=1
  • ro.ril.enable.dtm=1
  • ro.ril.hsdpa.category=8
  • ro.ril.enable.a53=1
  • ro.ril.enable.3g.prefix=1
  • ro.ril.htcmaskw1.bitmask = 4294967295
  • ro.ril.htcmaskw1 = 14449
  • ro.ril.hsupa.category = 5

Let us know if it helps!
