Microsoft releases Windows 8 consumer preview

windows 8 - for some reason we don't have an alt tag here

Windows on tablets is….not good. Windows 8 aims to change that, and while the full release is coming later this year, Microsoft has now released a free consumer preview that you can install and try. Since this is very much a preview version of the full OS it isn’t for those who don’t know how to deal with OS installs, but it’s worth checking out if you don’t mind using a partition for some test software. The download site has options for both install files (done from within an existing Windows installation) and full ISO downloads (that can be turned into DVDs or USB sticks).
