Sony’s xLOUD Audio Engine ported to rooted HTC EVO 3D

It's one louderOne of the recurring complaints a lot of people have about the HTC EVO 3D is the main speaker. It's just not loud enough; you can max out the volume and it still feels like it's at about a 5.

Enter Sony's xLOUD audio enhancement engine, which has been ported out of its primary ROM and over to rooted EVO 3Ds (and other phones). It is now a flashable enhancement (direct download here) that takes your main speaker to an 11. It doesn't affect your in-call volume unless you put it on speaker phone.

The mod appears to be universal, so there's a chance that it will work on pretty much any Android device out there, but I have only seen results on the EVO 3D. It also does not work on every ROM, so as with most things, your mileage may vary.

Now, there exists the possibility that cranking the volume up high could blow the speaker, so I recommend that you keep it at reasonable levels. And as with all root mods, please make a Nandroid backup before flashing.

I was using MikRunny 3vo v1.01- v1.07 and kept bailing to go to other roms just because the volume was very low. Way too low. Then I stumbled apon this mod and used it on v1.07 and it made it a keeper! Then, Miks newest release, v1.1 has it built in and its the best Sense 3.5 Rom I’ve tried!! Plus, now the Hdmi out works!! But this mod works!

I applied this mod to a stock rom on my 3D last night and it works great. I could definitely see this mod causing damage to the speaker if you don’t use your brain. I have all my volume settings to 50% and that’s plenty loud enough. If by chance you do blow your speaker its easy and cheap to fix, but it shouldn’t be an issue if you use your brain.

  • Volume+ from the market seems like a much simpler/safer solution. It made a big difference on my 3D, still not quite as loud as the OG EVO I think but close.

  • Yep this works on my og EVO 4G running MikG sense 2.1/3.0 v3.00. Increased the volume quite a bit and I can safely turn it up all the way. But yes remember to make a back up.

  • I’ve been using volume + for quite some time too. It gets the job done easily although I’ve tried turning it off and the stock volume is much better than it was at launch. One of the ota updates addressed it.

Evo 3d running Cyanogenmod 7.1. Doesn’t seem any louder.
