RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook was best-seller at Best Buy Canada, Future Shop last week

Well, this is a refreshing piece of news for BlackBerry PlayBook fans! It seems as though the deep price cuts have pushed RIM's tablet offering up to last week's best-seller spot at both Future Shop and Best Buy Canada.

Like me, though, you're probably wondering why this happened. After all, the thought of the BlackBerry PlayBook outselling the iPad or any Android tablet is kinda hard to fathom. Of course, most other tablets start at $499 and haven't offered any updates in a while. I haven't been to either of those stores since I live in a rural US town, but I would assume that RIM pushed the price and recent update pretty hard to get these in as many hands as possible.

Increased sales numbers are always great, but I care more about developers' attitudes towards the PlayBook now that it's got 15% market share in Canada. That's nothing to scoff at, considering that if the market was made up of just iPads, 15% would be 8,250,000 PlayBooks. Of course, the 15% is in Canada alone, but 15% is still a pretty big number in any case.
