The official CyanogenMod 7.2 RC1 is now available to download for the HTC EVO 4G. Still based on Gingerbread, this latest version offers several enhancements over previous official versions of CyanogenMod, including:

  • T9 predictive phone dialer.
  • Better controls during quiet hours.
  • New lockscreen styles, and other locksreen updates.
  • ADB over WiFi.
  • Better status bar battery icon customizations.
  • Media player, recorder, WiFi, and miscellaneous other bug fixes.
  • A bunch of Ice Cream Sandwich backports, including support for Bluetooth GPS dongles, improved support for mouse and USB keyboards, rotation and transition enhancements, and more.

According to the CyanogenMod team, this release kept getting pushed back because support for more devices kept getting added. Even so, this release isn't yet available for the EVO 3D or EVO Design 4G, so original EVO owners can have bragging rights for a while.

And don't worry: work is currently underway on CyanogenMod 9, based on Android 4.0, so hopefully we'll have some good news to report on that soon. In the meantime, check out the source link below for the official download links. Happy flashing!
