GrooVe IP Lite enables completely free WiFi calling on your HTC EVO

We've already showed you how to use Google Voice/Sprint integration, plus GrooVe IP, to enable WiFi calling on your HTC EVO. But that method previously required you to spend between $1.99-4.99 on the GrooVe IP app, depending on when and where you bought it.

If you've been holding off because you weren't quite sure whether this app was worth it, the good news is you can now download an ad-supported lite version from Google Play completely free. The only things that don't work in the free version are the following:

  • Calls over a mobile data connection (only WiFi works)
  • Native dialer integration
  • Proximity sensor support
  • The ability to change sign in status on Google Talk or sign in invisible

If you don't care about these features, then check it out at the links below. Personally, I don't mind throwing the devloper some pocket change for what has turned into one of my favorite apps, but at least it's now more accessible to everyone.
