ITG xpPhone 2 finally, officially released

XpPhone2 press conference

This weekend, ITG held a press conference in China for its xpPhone 2. A few of you had already taken notice of this fact and were a little disappointed in the announcement because of the relatively lackluster internal components. I'll have to admit that it certainly isn't the mobile machine I was hoping for, either, but let's discuss what's inside anyway.

ITG's newest xpPhone comes equipped with a processor from Intel's Z5XX series – this is what most of you are expressing your concerns about. This series of processors was released way back in 2008. The device also only handles up to 2GB of RAM, which is a little low by today's standards. Of course, the one saving grace that the xpPhone has is its SSD storage, and you can get quite a bit of it, too: 112GB is the top-end of storage.

Our ITG rep emailed us a price this weekend, too: RMB7000 to 12000, depending on configuration. Since I doubt that it'll make its way to the US, I'll give you a direct conversion as of the time of this post's publication: $1106.58 and $1896.99, respectively.

Are you going to import one? It does run Windows 7 and has a promise of a Windows 8 upgrade eventually, but I'm sure the older hardware is a bad thing to a lot of you. Let us know in the comments!
