Microsoft to finish Windows 8 during summer, release during October

Windows8

Regardless of your feelings towards it, Windows 8 is certainly going to be a huge player in the tablet market when it makes its way to market. The problem with that sentence, though, is "when." Microsoft hasn't proven to be the most quick-moving company among the big three; this was exemplified with Windows Phone 7 versus the competition.

Luckily, though, a new report from today claims that Microsoft's work on Windows 8 should wrap up sometime during this summer, with an official, final release in October.

An October release date lines up with what we've heard the entire time Windows 8 has been in development. It would also allow Microsoft to make a major push for Windows 8 tablets as the holiday shopping season begins.

Android and iOS have taken the tablet computing market by storm. There needs to be a third competitor, and I believe Microsoft can be the one – the company just needs to market Windows 8 very well and make it the best product available.

Unfortunately, making Windows 8 the best product available is what Microsoft is currently struggling with. Only time will tell what happens.
