Transformer Prime getting USB Ethernet adapter

Transformer Prime - for some reason we don't have an alt tag here

The Transformer Prime dock and combined battery life makes it a very nice tablet for office use, via remote desktop services and similar software that allows a more fully features office environment on the thing. Tablets these days often lack support for very common and must-have office “accessories” though, with the two most common missing items being an Ethernet port and VGA output. Asus has the latter covered already, and a software update that just went live for the Prime added update for an upcoming USB Ethernet adapter as well.

I’ve worked at places that keep strictly to Ethernet for internet connectivity myself, and while that’s frankly a bit of an outdated setup now in 2012, the simply truth is that office environments often are outdated like that, which is why a VGA adapter is needed instead of HDMI as well. It’s not just that the Prime now has it either, it’s that few others do, which could potentially give it a valuable advantage in the business market. Heck, even the iPad is missing this crucial adapter, with Apple instead offering the Airport Express wireless router as a possible way around it. Somehow though I think the IT department would prefer the wired route…
