Unofficial VLC Media Player port works on most EVO devices

VLC logoFor those coming from the PC world, VLC is a well known and loved media player that just works. For the longest time there have been no Android-based ports of this. Sure, we had VLC Direct, which was a fancy remote control for VLC on your computer, and VLC interfaces, but the video player portion was not directly available for us even though some workarounds were.

If you have an EVO 3D (Snapdragon S3 chipset), an EVO 4G (Snapdragon S1 chipset), or the EVO Shift or Design (Snapdragon s2 chipset), there's an unofficial port of the VLC media player that will work for you.

While the warnings abound that this is not a final/stable development, on my EVO 3D it's been chugging along with no issues and seems to take every media format I can throw at it without choking or throwing advertising at me.

If you're looking for a media player, you might want to check this out. It's full featured, works with our grapics chipsets, and it's free. Just make sure to thank the developer.

Check which chipset is for your phone before you download and install, as the wrong chipset download will lead to force closes/lockups, and let us know how it works for you.
