Apple CEO Tim Cook wants to settle patent battles, not fight them

If the past year has taught us anything, it’s that patent battles truly suck and cause a lot more problems than they solve.

Apple’s late CEO Steve Jobs seems to have started these wars and let them continue much longer than they should have. But the silver lining to his death is that Tim Cook took the reigns of the company and he just wants the battles to be over.

Today, Apple announced its earnings and during the call, Tim Cook told listeners what he truly thinks of the patent litigation that’s currently taking place: Cook has “always hated litigation, and [continues] to hate it.” He went on to say that Apple “wants people to invent their own stuff” but “if [Apple] could get to some kind of arrangement where we could be assured that that’s the case, I highly prefer to settle versus battle.”

I’m very glad that Cook is seeing to the patent battles in a different manner than Jobs did when he was alive. Hopefully, things can be sorted out soon so the mobile tech world can keep on spinning and producing great things to go into our pockets.
