Blurry image cold be Sony’s impressive new flagship

Sony-LT29i-Hayabusa-protoypeWe've given Sony's Xperia S plenty of love here at Pocketables, both for the solid internals and unique Sony design. In fact, it's no secret that we are fans of Sony products here, even their less popular devices like the Tablet P. As such, the rumored Sony smartphone you see on the left is of quite a bit of interest to us.

The image, which comes from a Chinese source, is also accompanied by some impressive specs. Supposedly, the smartphone (codenamed the Sony LT29i HAYABUSA) will be equipped with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro, 13MP HDR camera, 4.55-inch HD Reality display, and 2,200mAh battery. Sony has been known for good cameras and the Reality display, so that at least makes sense. All this tech will also supposedly be packed into a 7mm frame, which would be quite an impressive accomplishment.

Now, I can't really tell from the reflection, but it does look like the device pictured is different from other Xperia devices, and is probably a prototype. It also looks like it has onscreen buttons, meaning that it will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Hopefully this leak turns out to be real, because a device from Sony with specifications like these would simply be great. We will certainly have to wait a bit to find out, but according to the leak Sony may announce the device as the Xperia GX this summer.
