Sony confirms display yellowing on some Xperia S units, will fix the problem for free

Xperia-s-display

The Sony Xperia S is without a doubt Sony's best smartphone, and certainly a worthy contender in today's market. However, as we have seen many times before, no manufactured device is completely immune to problems, and the Xperia S is no exception. Today, Sony confirmed the numerous reports of a screen discoloration issue, and revealed their plans for dealing with the problem.

According to Sony, some Xperia S units do suffer from a slight discoloration of the screen when at high temperatures, which causes the display to look yellowed. Fortunately, the problem only affects some devices, and Sony will no doubt be looking into the manufacturing in order to decrease the number of devices with problems. If you are one of the unlucky ones with a faulty device, then you can simply contact Sony customer support and they will take care of the problem "at no cost" to you, presumably replacing the device.

While having a problem with a flagship device is good for neither manufacturers or users, Sony's method of handling the issue has been good. They clearly informed users about what is going on, and are replacing devices with problems for free. In fact, Sony seems to have been doing quite a lot right in the customer relations department lately, and are doing a much better job at keeping customers happy than some other manufacturers seem to be.
