Wildly popular iOS app Instagram now available for Android
Instagram, the wildly popular iOS app, has made its way to Android after a long re-working.
The app allows for photo manipulation and instant sharing between Foursquare, Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr and soon will have Flickr integration.
As this is day one of the Android app, I'm not going to put too much emphasis on the looks of the thing. It looks and behaves like the original iOS app, but I figure they'll adopt some more Android-friendly designs later. For instance, the ability to use the menu button would be useful, and I might want to take higher-quality pictures for some reason.
I do find it kind of sad that with all the integration they have, they don't include or list plans to include Google+ so that I can share my photos of my computers with the six other people on it. I kid. It really would be useful to have G+ since we now have unlimited cloud storage of photos over there, but again this is only day one.
There are plenty of similar apps that have been written while waiting for Instagram to get around to the much larger Android audience.
Some are significantly better at manipulation and theming, but for those coming to us from the dark side, it's one more reason to step into the light. And it's a pretty fun app to play with as well.
