HTC EVO 4G LTE is out for delivery right now

Evo-4g-lte-celebrationWhile Sprint still hasn't actually announced an official release date for the HTC EVO 4G LTE, preorders should be arriving on doorsteps right now. Sprint sent out shipping notices yesterday, and UPS fully intends to deliver most of these devices by the end of the day today.

If you preordered the phone through Best Buy, an internal memo that was leaked last night indicates that in-store preorders could be arriving as early as today; employees have been instructed to fulfill preorders as soon as the inventory arrives.

Those who preordered from other retailers like Wirefly seem to be getting mixed signals from customer service reps about when they can expect the device, although my guess is it will be sooner rather than later.

It looks like people who didn't preorder will have to wait for Sprint to announce an official release date before they can go to stores and purchase the device. My best guess is that this will either be tomorrow, or Tuesday, May 29 (due to the Memorial Day holiday).

In the meantime, be sure to let us know below when you receive your device, as well as your first impressions! Is the EVO 4G LTE everything you'd hoped it would be?

Got mine first thing this morning! 10:30am EST. Only weird thing is during activation it is telling me my current plain is no longer valid and for me to choose a new one. WTF?

BTW first impression is GREAT! It is MUCH thinner in person than I thought even reading about it. Nice so far but still need to activate.

Has anyone been able to find anything out from BestBuy.com as to when they’ll be shipped? First person I was on the phone with said “It’s backordered 30 days.” She transferred me to the Mobile Department and they never answered. I’m about to cancel my order and get it from Sprint, if only Best Buy didn’t have the $50 gift card for me…Decisions, decisions…

Sprint hasn’t set an offical launch date for the Evo, even if Wirefly had them they wouldn’t ship them. They told me they can’t ship the phone until an offical launch date is set.

I feel exactly the same way! I am going to order direct through sprint or Best Buy next time. I really don’t mind waiting but at least be upfront about my estimated wait time. Don’t send out a email that implies that they are getting ready to receive inventory and then just go back to “d’uh, your guess is as good as mine” instead tell me that your working with sprint and you expect to receive your first shipment on MM/DD.

Finally got an email from best buy online. Said there was an issue with the order and to please call and an 800 number. Called, got a rep who had to ‘Talk to the back office.” After 20 minutes on hold, by the clock on my desk phone, he came back and said all was good and I should receive a tracking number withing 24 hours. Best he could tell. me.

Since it’s shipping to my office that probably means Tuesday at the best with the holiday. Would’ve been nice to have it before the long weekend to play, but whatever. Just glad I finally got some kind of word out of them.

The order status online changed too BTW. Now it’s, “Order in process of being fulfilled; Usually ships in 1 – 2 days” Nice upgrade from ‘backordered’

Got the same email. The lady I talked to was pretty helpful. It was a problem with the pre-activation with Sprint. She said mine was the first phone she saw that said anything other than Backordered and that it was a good sign.

She got things squared away and by the end of the call she said she saw the status update to processing and said that if UPS hadn’t picked up already at that warehouse that my phone would be shipped today and that I should have a tracking number soon.

I don’t understand the hate on Wirefly, I never saw them guarantee that their pre orders ship before the phone is officially released, so getting bent out of shape because you have to wait an extra weekend seems silly… Specially if you went thru WF Friends & Fam and you’re saving over $90 compared to Sprint ($120 + no tax which would be another $14).

I think people who ordered from WireFly(myself included) assumed pre-order means when the phone is released, we will get it, regardless of where it was from. The signs, promos, etc, said phone released May 18. Not May 19 after sprint announces it, Not May 18 if all Sprint customers get theirs first. I understand the delay wasn’t wirefly(or even sprints) fault. But we still were left to assume that when the phones shipped, they would ship from all retailers simultaneously. And now to wait this 3days weekend(I keep hearing UPS doesnt deliver memorial day) and my BDAY is Sunday, It’s hard for me to be ok with this. I did save 50$ but I also paid for an Early Upgrade, haha.

I received an e-mail regarding my EVO Best Buy order because there was a problem with it… I called them up, he fixed the problem. It had something to do with the $10 data being charged twice…

He said the phone would still ship. I said when…

    He said, “Tomorrow morning.”

I then checked my Best Buy Order status: Order Status: 1 item(s) – Order in process of being fulfilled; Usually ships in 1 – 2 days.

I’m in Lexington, KY and received a call at 11am that my pre-ordered EVO was at Best Buy. When I arrived they had the box right in front of me but said they could not sell it to me because the “pre-orders, although delivered, were NOT in the system yet”. They said it’d be in the system in 1-2 hours. 3 hours later I called the store and they said it would be another 1-1.5 hours…..EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!

Well, you know what they say about people who assumed too much… ;) I ordered from Wirefly, and I also paid $165 to buy out my contract to upgrade early, and I’m also selling my EVO 3D to a poor guy who’s waiting for me to get rid of it (for $150) in order to move from VZW to MetroPCS.

I’ve got no qualms with Wirefly yet, now if my order isn’t at my doorstep by Monday/Tuesday (assuming the official release is tomorrow), THEN I’ll have beef with them. Until then I’m glad I saved $94 by going w/Wirefly (possibly more, last year Sprint didn’t charge me activation when I got the EVO 3D off Wirefly).

I got mine today at noon. I have activated it and have been setting it up and playing with it. So far I am really happy with it. A few little quirks that I don’t like are no menu button or link to the settings menu on the home screen unless you put the icon there. And the fact that the icons you have on the launch bar are the ones that show on the lock screen. If you change one it changes in both places. If anyone comes across a way to fix either of these I will be greatly appreciative. But these are very minor and I will work around them if I must. The phone is great, and the camera is amazing.

I despise doing pre-orders since in the past I have always gotten the phone launch day anyway. I certainly wish I had done so though this time via Best Buy. But the simple fact that no Sprint employee in the stores knows when this thing will “launch” pisses me off. Then to find out that they are actually in Best Buy stores baffles me. And even more than that…HTC nor Sprint has said nothing other than pre-orders have shipped. I am getting close to just waiting this summer for the Samsung Galaxy III and seeing if its on another carrier since my Sprint contract is up in June.

Think I will cause some trouble if I don’t activate it until they get LTE up in my area? I have good WiMax coverage with my 3D(which I am keeping) and plan to continue to use it, or atleast use it as a WiFi hub for the 4G LTE.

Agreed. And I’m getting 5,000 Amtrak points for ordering them which in itself is between $50 and $100 in value (4,000 points for a Northeast Corridor trip one way). I want it now but I know that when I get it I’ll be happy I waited. I can’t imagine they’re going to take forever on this.

So, $50 off and a free Amtrak ride? Very worth it. Let’s be real people, there’s a reason they offer phones at a discount… their overhead is probably way lower given their lack of communication when issues like this arise.

That may just be me but its still going to get used after I get the lte. Or I should say if we ever get it. Oh I’m in Texas so we have alot if room for a a.m. group. Anyway we shall wait and see.

I bought direct from Sprint within the first few hours.

Got my ups notice, 1st attempt occurred while I was at work.

After calling ups I was able to pick up my EVO directly at ups.

    I love it.

I also got mine for that price. If you trade in your OG EVO, they give you $150 towards the upgrade. Best deal around. The phone is epic.

I don’t see anyone on here using the amazing $30 Best Buy buy back program. They paid me $280 for my Evo 3D back, and I walked out the door with the phone and $80 in cash. $280 = 40% of the $699 retail price. Also, make sure to perform an warranty replacement on your EVO 3D before the Buy Back (to get the full 40%).

Anyone else get PAID to upgrade?

What you are seeing, is exactly what Sprint wants. I don’t mean to sound cynical, but in the past Sprint has tried to suggest that buying through 3rd party, would limit my customer service (on the phone itself). Obviously, they want you to buy directly from them, even if they aren’t offering/matching the same deals as the 3rd party retailers. I see this as Spring going a step further, to prove why you should spend extra $$ to buy it through them.

Be patient, and enjoy your savings. This is not in wirefly’s control, and the people blaming them are just ignorant.

I received an email from Best Buy on Thurs saying there was a problem with my order. I called them back after I got home from work and had to wait 30 mins to get someone on the line. A nice woman from India informed me there was an activation issue and she would need to transfter me to the “Back Office” and that it was a routine issue. I spent another 50 mins on hold. Then an english speaking woman said they needed to verify a few things before my order would ship. I gave her my name/address/etc. She asked if this was an upgrade. I said yes it was. (I don’t know why she had to ask, since it was noted when I placed the original order). She told me she would have to call Sprint and I would be hold for 10 more mins. I waited. She came back and said everything was fine, and that my order would ship Friday, and I should receive Tue-Wed next week. We hung up.

About 45 mins later, I looked at my existing Evo 4G and saw I had no data connection. I keep getting “Error Code 67. Unable to establish wireless data connection. If the problems persists, please contact your mobile phone company.”

    WTF?

I am still able to make phone calls, however.

What did BB do now? Grrr.

Just checked with Wirefly for an update on the dispatch of the Evo. Looks like they are still saying nothing. I pried and pried. Still nothing. They hold their ground pretty solidly.

Anyway, so, we Wireflyers are still waiting. In the meantime, for all those that have gotten yours, how awesome is it really? Or do you choose not to come read these postings anymore because you have received it, and no longer have a need to read it, since the reason you were reading it was to find out when you were going to get your phone? I know that once I get mine, I won’t be coming back to this thread.

Has anyone received a shipping order from Wirefly yet. I still haven’t received an email from them, their customer service is a JOKE. It’s not even worth it to call.

Chatted with WF customer service. Bottom line was they have no idea when they are getting the phone. I was able to get upgraded to next day delivery though.

Walked outside my door today to find another box sitting there. Thinking at first maybe they sent me another phone. Open it to find a gel cover for the evo, and an apology letter.

“HTC and Sprint want to thank you for your patience as we know you have been anticipating the arrival of your new HTC Evo 4G LTE. Please accept this phone accessory as a small token of our appreciation and thanks.”

I tried to get the next day shipping and the rep told me all the phones are shipping the same day. I asked for a refund for my next day shipping and the phone call was dropped.

What do you mean that you asked for a refund for your next day shipping? You didn’t get it in the first place. How can you get a refund on it?

I paid for next business day shipping and asked for a free upgrade to same business day shipping. He told me that all phones ship on same business day so I asked for refund on my next business day shipping, then my call was dropped. Sorry.

Gotcha. However, I don’t think he was stating that the phone ships “same day shipping”, but that all the phones would be shipped on the same day. At least, according to their site, the normal shipping is 2 to 3 days. So, you paying next day will get it to you faster than it will get to the rest of us that didn’t pay for that.
