Good and EVO

HTC EVO 4G LTE preorders will begin tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.

Evo-4g-lte-preorder-countdown

Sprint's official landing page for the much anticipated HTC EVO 4G LTE now features a countdown clock that will let you know how much longer you have to wait – to the second – before you can finally preorder the device.

At this point, it's unclear whether or not other retailers will be taking preorders for the next EVO, although we have received unconfirmed reports that Best Buy will not. Still, at the same time, Best Buy also has a dedicated landing page for the device where customers can sign up to receive updates. Additionally, Best Buy had a secret presale for the EVO 3D last year, so it's entirely possible that the retailer could do something similar in the coming days.

So get your computers ready, and head over to Sprint's preoder page tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. eastern time. And if you do preorder the device, be sure to let us know how the process went for you!

  • This upsets me. I was planning on going to bestbuy tomorrow and preordering with my bestbuy card. Now I will have to wait for payday, the 15th and probably get It straight from Sprint. Your loss, bestbuy.

  • I was at Best Buy this weekend and asked them if they were doing the pre-order and they said they were not doing it, so I don’t know if that is 100% reliable, but I am planning on pre-ordering tomorrow morning from Sprint.

  • I want to pre-order, but I won’t do it until a release date has been announced.

  • I will just stick with my OG 4G until Sprint LTE coverage is available in Indy…the Wimax here is ass. My phone would prolly lock up in surprise if it were to ever get a solid 4G signal. Bleh…

  • Pass. They could give me the phone and I’d still not take it. Customer service with Sprint is beyond frustrating.

  • I work for Best Buy. We begin preorders tomorrow May 7. Preorder from us and you will get a free $50 gift card (according to the information I read).

  • I called my Best Buy and they were too busy to come to the phone so I called another one a bit further away and whoever answered asked his manager and I was told yes we are doing pre orders so if that one is then I am assuming the store I go to by me is too. I’m defiantely getting up early to call tomorrow.

  • …anyone know what the cost of the phone will be with a contract renewal?

Should be $199 with the ever popular renewal.

  • It seems like Best Buy needs to inform their employees better then (not like that’s anything new). Because either you’ve been misinformed, or all the employees that Chris and Justin spoke with, are misinformed.

  • That’s the part I found odd about all of this. Usually a pre-order comes with a release date. Why would I pre-order a phone, when, as far as we know, it may not come out until Christmas. Obviously, it’ll probably be within the next month, but why would I give them any money without knowing when I’d be receiving it?

  • What does that have to do with the phone? If you are on their service, and they offered to GIVE you this phone, you would not take it, because you don’t like their customer service? That doesn’t make sense.

  • My contract is up in June, does it make sense or any additional benefit to wait or pre-order tomorrow?

  • Just preordered it from the sprint website, i got tired of my OG Evo plus its going to be out may 18. The total with the uprade and FREE shipping was $217.00

  • Just ordered! Logged into Sprint account and clicked upgrade! Easy process, and got my confirmation e-mail in seconds. Now for the Wait to get it in my greedy little hands!

    Reply
  • Sprint customer service pushed my upgrade up 6 months early just because I asked. I would say that it a very good thing done on their part. I wasn’t supposed to get my upgrade until Dec. 1st and I just pre-ordered the phone. I don’t know where you are getting your reasons for calling Sprint’s customer service beyond frustrating. I have dealt with them a few times in the last year and my problem has been solved within 10 minutes of dialing their number.

ditto (mine is on pre-order now also!) Gave the wife my EVO 3D, and my EVO LTE is on the way (theoretically). It does say they will try to get it to me a few days before the national launch. But if your going to wait until the release date, i’d checkout sites like samsclub.com they usually sell the phones for 50 bucks less than sprint.com (The Galaxy Nexus is online at sprint.com for 199.99 and at samsclub its 148.88)

  • Just finished my order on sprint.com a couple of minutes ago :D

  • The phone and tax with an upgrade or new contract is $212.50. I just placed my order.

  • Got my pre-order in, haven’t received an email confirming, but I printed up the page conf and it shows in the my orders. Also, card is charged already lol.

So excited, lately my original EVO is acting like the battery is completely dead after using only for a few minutes, it shuts off at 60% or around there. I figured I’d just live with it till this comes out.

Just pre ordered as well. Upgrading from Nexus S 4G to EVOLTE, Im def looking forward to it. It says the preorder ends May 17th on the site so Im assuming the rumor of May 18 release date is true.

  • This is some BULL. I bought the original EVO almost 2 years ago, they were telling me will get 4G soon. That never happened and now they getting 4gLTE, YEAH RIGHT!!! not in my city, Verizon & T-Mobile have 4g in my city, wassup SPRINT!!

  • Without the upgrade or new contract the price of the phone is $549.99

  • The website is crashed with hits right now. I called CMS and they didn’t have the phone in there listing to upgrade. What gives? How are you guys getting your orders in before the 8:00 a.m. CST launch time?

  • Too bad they won’t allow for a bill to account on these pre-orders. I would’ve ordered today if they did. My wife is out of town for an extended period of time so I’m trying not to spend cash/credit if I can help it. ;) BTA would have been perfect. If I was paying cash or credit I think I would order from Wirefly for a buck fifty. Anybody know if they get their devices on or before the release usually? Thanks.

  • Little bit of a different situation now. With 4G WiMAX Sprint put all of their eggs in Clear’s basket. Clear went out of business and the WiMAX deployment was never finished.

With 4G LTE Sprint has hired different contractors (Samsung, Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson) to deploy their LTE network in various parts of the country. It’s less risky this time.

  • just did the preorder for my husbands line. I will wait to see his first, Im undecided I still have my EVO 4G rooted (with SOS) and love it. May wait to see when they root this new one.

  • I hate activation fees on upgrades.
    $239.42 before taxes.

Ordered one, I’ll try to talk them out of the activation fee later.

  • Sorry should have said thats what I was told..I didn’t even have to ask either. Unsolicited

  • I did not receive any released date. May 19th is a Saturday, which to me wouldn’t make sense for a release date.

    Reply
  • My bad. The 18th is what she said..Actually what she said was the release date is the 18th and I would get my phone within 2-5 business days after..

  • Just called my local BestBuy and THEY ARE TAKING PRE-ORDERS TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Reply
  • I just completed my order. On the confirmation page, it states “Your device will ship for free in 2-5 business days…”. And then in my confirmation email, it states “If you pre-ordered an HTC EVO™ 4G LTE, we’ll send you an email the second it
ships and do our best to get it to you on or before the national launch.” Not sure what to make of either of those two statements, but that’s as much ‘confirmation’ of a release/ship date as I can find at the moment.

  • if you pre-order u will get the phone by the 18th not 2-5 days after, they even say on that site that you will get your phone on or before national release date.

  • That’s the best deal out there if u ask me. Still no bill to account option though which sucks for me.

  • Do you guys think there will be any chance of stock at the local best buy or online on the 18th? Or will this be big enough to sell out?

    Reply
  • I just received an e-mail from sprint saying my phone was either out of stock or pre-ordered (which it is as we all know) It gave a link to track my order status. The link is http://www.sprint.com/myorder. At the bottom of the status page it says the phones will start shipping on May 15th and will take 1 to 3 business days. I have pasted the message below.

Status: Thanks for pre-ordering. A shiny new HTC EVO 4G LTE is waiting for you in our warehouse. Shipping starts May 15th and we will send you an email the second it ships. Delivery should occur within 1 to 3 business days thereafter. You may continue to track the status of your order on this web page. If you have questions, check out sprint.com/preorder for more info.

  • Heh – went to see about pre-ordering, got that I’m not allowed to pre-order, even at the full price.

Ah, gotta love being the victim of a Sprint.com breach (got to have been, that wasn’t my password anywhere else) 5 years back in which several phones were ordered for advanced replacement on my dime.

  • I did better than pre-ordering… I just went to my sprint store and got on the waiting list. I am 1st in line, and they already know they are getting a few on the 18th. So mine will be waiting for me when they open on the 18th, if I can remember to stop by. :)

  • Why are you guys so confused about the Best Buy offer? I got a nice color brochure mailed directly to me with all the details (pre-orders today, $50 gift card, etc.) more than two weeks ago!

  • Why? They sent out a mailer, and yes, they are doing pre-orders and giving a $50 gift card.

  • Website is updated now doing preorders.

  • I went to Best Buy this am and I pre ordered. I put 50 down and was told I didn’t have too. I signed up for the phone freedom where if you buy from them you save an additional 50 bucks. So I will get a 50 dollar gift card on the 18th to use towards my phone meaning on the 18th all I will need is a hundred bucks. Now U don’t mind waiting a couple days to save 50 bucks plus my actual upgrade isn’t due until June 1st and I was told by Sprint the earliest I can upgrade would be 2 weeks early which is the 18th so I am lucky. But If I had ordered through Sprint 1st thing this am I know I would get the phone on the 16th if it is shipped on the 15th because the warehouse is here in my town where I live Louisville Kentucky. But I went with Best Buy to get it for 149 and I have never bought from them before.

  • I did the same as Rose this morning. I get the $50 Best Buy giftcard to use towards the phone as well as an extra $50 for trading in my current EVO 4G. $99 dollars is quite a nice pricetag.

  • The $10 Google Wallet credit looks like it’d come with the phone no matter where you purchased as long as you activated the Google Wallet app on the phone within 7 days of purchase and before 6/18/12.

    Reply
  • Did you read the other posts, or did you decide you wanted to insult people instead? First, I never received a ‘mailer’. I even signed up to receive notice from Best Buy (which I still have not received). But that aside, several people called, and were told, by Best Buy employees, that they would NOT be taking pre-orders.

Obviously, we all know the answer now, since Best Buy has been taking pre-orders in the store, and now online, and obviously Jose was the only employee that seemed to know what he was talking about.

  • That’s nice for you, but obviously the rest of us did not. I’m a silver level rewards card member, I signed up for updates on the phone, and I purchased an EVO 3D from them, and I did not receive one. Don’t assume that everyone else did, just because you did.
