HTC One S will receive OTA update to 1.84.531.2 710 June 4
The HTC One S is all set to get another minor OTA update, this time to version 1.84.531.2.710. The update will be around 24.2MB and start rolling out on Monday, June 4. And while it’s not the largest of OTA updates, and the handset will still remain on Android 4.0.3, it does come with some nice goodies that most One S owners should be very happy about.
The official change log lists the following improvements:
- Resolves goodbye splash not appearing when powering off due to low battery.
- Resolves voicemail indicator not appearing while using Wi-Fi calling.
- Improvements to Wi-Fi Calling
- Improvements to camera stability
- Resolves signal fluctuation.
I don’t know about you, but I’m most excited about the fixes to WiFi calling. I previously mentioned how much of a drain that was to the battery in my full review of the One S, as well as my hands-on examination of the feature. I have to admit that I really do love this particular ability of all T-Mobile phones, so I’m extremely pleased that it will function a bit better going forward.
Of course, I’m already extremely satisfied with camera, but any other minor improvements are still welcome!
To accept the update, T-Mobile says you’ll need 350MB of available memory and at least 50% left on your battery. It also claims that your device can’t be rooted, but as long as you return your system to all the stock settings (including the recovery and your system apps), you should be able to accept the update and keep root with an app like Voodoo OTA RootKeeper.
