Spotify releases iPad app
After years of being stuck with a blown up iPhone app, Spotify users can now finally download an app made for their device – and what an app it is! I don’t have a premium account to actually play anything, but it still allowed me to mess about the app, and all I can say is job well done. The app mixes sliding panes, high resolution album art, and coverflow-like effects to create an app that truly puts the screen real estate to good use. It’s the kind of app the iPad has many of, but Android few of – apps that simply look awesome. On top of that, you now have gapless playback and cross fading.
It’s nice to see an app this well made, but the time it took them to actually make it (or decide it needed making) is still not acceptable. Having apps for mobile devices is borderline required these days , especially on a service that charges as much as Spotify does. With this app though, users will have a new reason to stay with the service.
