All-In-one root kit available on Windows for the HTC EVO 4G LTE

aiorootkit - for some reason we don't have an alt tag here

Hasoon2000 has released a pretty useful all-in-one kit for Windows to get your computer in a position to root your HTC EVO 4G LTE. The application installs the required HTC phone drivers if they are needed on your computer, and will then walk you through registering at HTCdev, grabbing your phone’s device ID token, and submitting it. Finally, it uses HTCDev’s key to unlock the bootloader of your phone.

After that’s done it, can install either TeamWin’s custom recovery or a recovery of your choosing, flash a kernel if you want it, and install additional files required for permanent root.

If you’re new to the concept of rooting, this will walk you through several of the more daunting tasks in the correct order and configure your computer to be able to speak to, and eventually root, the HTC EVO 4G LTE. If you’re an old pro, this tool probably doesn’t have a lot to offer you but it’s still pretty neat to refer newbies, too.

  • Love it! very useful tool…

  • Avatar of dumb question

    Does it also unroot?

nope, but if you’ve got a computer in the condition needed to talk to the phone, unrooting is a fairly simple process.
Reboot into bootloader, choose fastboot, from the computer type “fastboot oem lock” in a command prompt.
Run the latest RUU which will reset the phone to stock.

This looks like a great tool for rooting. I am holding off on rooting for a while. I am happy with the stock for the time being, but will eventually give in and root once I see something I just have to have that isn’t there already.

  • Will this root method brick my google wallet? If so, then it’s kind of a chicken and egg, as I am locked out of google wallet, and would need to root to get in to reset the settings… Damn you google! :)

If you have stored payment information in your google wallet on the phone and it put it into the secure element, probably yes.

If you have not previously stored payment information in it no.

  • Any idea if this would work for the original EVO 4G or if there is something similar out there???

    • Unrevoked is fairly easy to use. Google it.

  • I am a new to this prosses and need some help. Pls help me find a site that has a link to actually download the toolkit onto my pc. So far I have found only articles talking abt how great this tool is but have not been able to to download it onto my pc.
Thank you so much in advance.

Click the link that says [xda-developers] in the piece.
Go to that site, go to the second message that says “post 2: downloads” or some such. Click the link there.
That will take you to a site with a few phones listed. Click yours, you’re in.
