There is no option to activate the service on the EVO, add a prepaid card, set a PIN, check a pre-existing balance, or even make a purchase. Pressing “OK” simply exits out of the app.
On the one hand, I can see why Google has now blocked access to Wallet on the EVO: previously, lots of users were very frustrated at multiple unsuccessful attempts at adding their prepaid cards or Citi Mastercards; this is one way to prevent that frustration from occurring in the first place.
But on the other hand, this message must be frustrating for individuals who were able to access Google Wallet successfully in the past, only to be blocked out now, with no access to any funds that they’ve already added. And this certainly does not make me trust Google Wallet as a potential wallet replacement at some point in the future, once it’s more commonly accepted at different retailers and supports more cards.
People who have attempted various hacks in order to use Google Wallet seem to be having mixed success, although I’m still waiting for an official fix. Hopefully, it comes very soon.
Thanks, Terrell!
