Good and EVO

Sprint launches new HTC EVO 4G LTE ad campaign that seeks to tug at our heartstrings

Is it just me, or are lots of ad campaigns suddenly throwing around the concept of “love” in an attempt to create some kind of unbreakable bond with potential customers? I’ve seen this everywhere, from my bank’s new slogan that “we love our customers” to my eye doctor’s reminder that “we love your eyes!” I guess Sprint is no different, with their brand new “Unlimited Love Unlimited EVO” ad campaign for the HTC EVO 4G LTE.

Sprint’s official press release, which the company sent out earlier today, is filled with not-so-subtle encouragements to “love” and feel “passionate” about your EVO, and to embrace any “emotional response” you get from your new smartphone.

Don’t get me wrong; I actually do love my new EVO 4G LTE, but I find these calls to love slightly humorous. After all, even though this is pretty much the most awesome phone on the market right now (to me, at least), it’s still just a phone.

In any case, we should start seeing the above commercial on TV more and more frequently as Sprint propagates its latest campaign across the country. And I do have to admit: this commercial is pretty neat. I’m not just sure if I’m feeling quite the same kind of passion that Sprint wants me to feel.
